If your system is off, your email will be sent when Outlook opens next. When you close Outlook with messages that haven’t been sent, Outlook will ask if you’re sure you want to close and you can safely close Outlook. Select each rule listed on the Email Rules tab and then examine the information under Rule description. Unfortunately your computer does need to be on and Outlook does need to be open for the message to go after hours but the system can be locked without affecting the send. Click Rules on the Ribbon and then click Manage Rules & Alerts. When you click the Send button, your email will go into your Outbox until the date and time you selected. Do not add any other rules (i.e., leave the checkboxes blank. Here, look under Start from a Blank Rule. Choose date and time and then click close. Go to File > Manage Rules & Alerts > New Rule. When you are composing an email message, you have several tabs at the top and the one we’re interested in here is titled Options. Select New Email to start composing your new email message and then click the Options tab on the ribbon and then Delay Delivery. Check 'defer delivery by a number of minutes' in the next dialog box, click 'a number of' in the lower pane, and enter the number of minutes you wish to delay your sent mail the maximum is 120. It is very easy to schedule using a feature in Outlook called Delay Delivery. Thanks for the reply Palcouk, Ive been changing the date individually on each message for the last 10 years, and simply wanted to change the original default to a new default. In Outlook, go to the Tools menu Rules and Alerts Click on New Rule Click Start From a Blank Rule Highlight Check Messages After Sending, then click Next Do. It’s very handy when you want to send someone an email, but you are afraid you’ll forget, to schedule that email for future delivery. You cannot change the default, but you can set it as required for the individual msg.
